Ministry Opportunities at Holy Cross Lutheran Church
Holy Cross Lutheran Church believes that for a church to be active and growing, all members need to be active. Although voluntary, each member is encouraged to participate in a ministry. Each one of our Ministries relates directly to one or more of our Core Values.
4, 5, 6ers
Activities for 4th, 5th & 6th graders
Sunday School and Nursery: Sunday school is available for children in grades K-6. A nursery is available during the Sunday service as well as during other church functions. Our Nursery is well provided with Christian Stories, audio & video tapes as well as the equipment necessary for them.
Adult Bible Study: One of the Core Values of Holy Cross Lutheran Church is that the congregation values Bible Study. We believe a person's Christian faith is strengthened, encouraged and nourished by a deeper understanding of God's Word. Therefore, Pastor Josh offers Sunday morning Bible Study which takes an in depth look at various books of the Bible. Ranging from 4-10 weeks in length, Pastor's approach is to put each book into a historical perspective as well as a spiritual perspective and explain how the lessons apply to individuals today.
Ushers/Greeters: Often the first impression a visitor receives will set the tone for his church visit. Our Ushers perform double duty as Usher/Greeters welcoming visitors in a friendly manner, passing out bulletins, seating guests and assisting the pastor & elder with communion.
LWML: Lutheran Women Missionary League collect s money and clothing for Lutheran missionary work throughout the world. Our Tuesday Quilters Group contributes homemade quilts for the needy through LWW. To date over 600 quilts have been provided for Lutheran World Relief efforts as well as locally for the needy.

CWS: All women of Holy Cross Lutheran Church are members of CWS. Meetings are once a month and the women of the church are encouraged to attend. CWS plans bake sales, potlucks, church fellowship activities and sponsors the annual and popular Holly Berry Bazaar.
Altar Guild: Members of the Altar Guild assist the Pastor in the proper maintenance of the altar. They change the paraments, prepare the communion elements, and order altar accessories and supplies.
Lay Readers are members of the congregation who volunteer to read the Old and New Testament lessons for the week.
GO + GATHER + GROW JR/SR HIGH YOUTH GROUP is "Living GOD Loud"! Junior and senior high school students are encourage to spend time together in an environment of kindness and mutual respect for each other. It is teens being teens with music, food, video games, discussions and events to bring them to know what it is to be a Christian.
Community Outreach: As Christians we are all extolled to "Go and make disciples of all nations". Evangelism is one of the Core Values at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Therefore we try to provide activities that will bring others to the Lord and into our church family. We also provide for the needy in our community. We are a co-operative extension for the Salvation Army and we have a clothing giveaway to for the community of Onaway.
